April continues the cycle for //The Jacaranda//. Each month we highlight a work by M. C. Escher, an artist who obsessed over the mechanics of transformation and the mathematical precision of the "return." His tessellations are not just patterns; they are visual narratives of life breaking out of its own constraints, mirroring the evolution of our seasonal themes. For April, the work is Reptiles. In this lithograph, a 2D drawing of a lizard pulses with a sudden, localized life. It crawls out of the flat, hexagonal grid of the sketchbook, crosses a series of symbolic objects - a book, a brass bowl and eventually re-enters the pattern. It is the literal geometry of a cycle: a creature shedding the stillness of the page to breathe, only to return to the form that birthed it. It feels synonymous with this month’s theme of //Rebirth//. The image captures the insistence of life as it breaks through the "dead land" of the drawing. It is the fragile, rhythmic return of movement.
